


Delft, The Netherlands - March 20th 2021 – Justo Jewellery is one of the 7 laureates to receive the Cartier Women’s Initiative Regional Award 2021. This was announced virtually today on both the Cartier and the Cartier Woman’s initiative websites and social media channels. The award will be presented June 1st, 2021 that will be held in the original Cartier Store on des Champs-Élysées in Paris, France.
Justo Jewellery is a one of a kind Fairtrade jewellery store, with the mission: “making the world a little better, a little kinder and more beautiful, one unique piece at the time”. The two CEO’s Maaike Bakker and Julia van Vliet have the vision “to ensure that people are treated fairly, get paid an honest wage and provide a higher standard of living through the creation and promotion of hand-crafted, Fairtrade jewellery”. Even though the company’s growth and international expansion, the two entrepreneurs remain in charge of purchasing and often travel to Peru to meet up with their local partners and suppliers to ensure their mission and vision is being followed. Besides that, last year, Justo Jewellery collaborated with charities and organization such as Save The Children, Free A Girl and Plan Parenthood.
Besides Justo Jewellery, the Cartier Woman’s Initiative selected 6 other laureates amongst 1500 applicants from over 165 different countries worldwide. Justo Jewellery is awarded the Europe Regional Award, as the company was founded in The Netherlands. The 7 winning female entrepreneurs are selected based on how they are making a positive change in this world. This year, the Cartier Women’s Initiative focussed on the following goals: No poverty, reduced inequalities and a better health and well-being. The laureates were selected by an independent international jury committee which consist out of experienced successful female entrepreneurs.

The Initiative contains a grant of US$ 100,000, a place in an INDEAS executive programme, international media exposure and opportunities for networking and coaching. The goal of the initiative is to provide these female entrepreneurs to provide them with the necessary financial, social and human capital to support them to grow their businesses further and on top of that, to build the needed leadership skills. The Cartier Woman’s Initiative beliefs in their concepts and idea’s and want them to be able to expend to spread their impact on the world around them.
The Cartier Woman’s initiative is an international entrepreneurship programme with the goal to push change by empowering woman impact entrepreneurs. The programme was founded in 2006 and is open to businesses runt and owned by females from any country or sector, as long as they have the goal to make a strong and sustainably social and environmental impact on the world around them.
